Error during installation: invalid digital signature for tds1.cab

Modified on Thu, 12 Nov 2020 at 06:46 PM

Symptoms

While installing, you receive an error message informing you that the digital signature for tds1.cab or some other file included with the installer has an invalid digital signature.

Cause

This happens because your system does not have an up-to-date list of trusted root certificates.

Most of the time that is because you did not install all the updates available for your Windows.

Resolution

If your Windows OS is supported by Microsoft simply download and install all available updates. Note that you will likely have to reboot several times; after each reboot, search for updates until none are available.

If your OS is no longer supported by Microsoft, the above procedure may still work fine - for example it works for Windows 7 if you update to SP1 and install all available updates. If it doesn't work and you get the same error, you could try the automatic Microsoft certificate update tool. It's also very important to notice that Tick Data Suite support is not available for operating systems that are no longer supported by Microsoft. The Tick Data Suite will in all likelihood work perfectly fine with Windows versions such as 7 but support is no longer provided; please see the support article Unsupported operating systems for more information.
