Differences Between Legacy and SaaS Licenses for Tick Data Suite

Introduction

As of September 1, 2022, Tick Data Suite has transitioned from its traditional mixed pricing model to a fully Software as a Service (SaaS) model. This article provides a detailed overview of the changes between legacy licenses (purchased before September 2022) and the new SaaS licenses.


Legacy License (Purchased Before September 2022)

Pricing Model

  • Initial Fee + Subscription: Legacy licenses required an initial one-time fee, followed by a recurring subscription for continued updates and support.
  • Update Plans: Customers could purchase update plans to keep their license current and gain access to the latest features and technical support.

Features

  • Access to Features: Legacy customers with expired subscriptions have access to all features available when their subscription expired, including being able to use the Tick Data Suite without an active subscription. Legacy customers with an active subscription will have access to all new features.
  • Support for Expired Subscriptions: Customers with expired subscriptions could continue using their current version but would lose access to updates, new data sources, CDN speed improvements, and technical support.
  • License Upgrades: Legacy customers could upgrade their licenses to new versions by purchasing an update plan prior to September 1, 2022.

Limitations After September 1, 2022

  • No New Update Plans: Customers with expired subscriptions are no longer be able to purchase update plans. They can continue use the software as-is without updates.
  • No Access to New Features: Legacy licenses without an active subscription will not have access to new features introduced after September 2022, such as additional tick data sources, CDN downloads etc.
  • No License Upgrades: License upgrades will not be available for legacy licenses. Users must switch to the SaaS model for upgrades.

Special Migration Offer

  • Discount for Migration: Existing customers with expired subscriptions will be offered a one-time discount of 80 EUR if they switch to the new SaaS model (the legacy license will be terminated when the discount is offered). This discount can be applied as follows:
    • Yearly or Lifetime Licenses: 80 EUR applied all at once.
    • Monthly Licenses: 4 installments of 20 EUR each.

SaaS License (Purchased After September 1, 2022)

Pricing Model

  • Monthly Subscription: 29.9 EUR per month.
  • Yearly Subscription: 174 EUR per year (over 50% discount compared to the monthly plan).
  • Lifetime License: 449 EUR one-time fee.

Features

  • Access to New Features: SaaS license holders have access to all new features, including multiple tick data sources, enhanced charting capabilities, and command line data import/export.
  • CDN-Backed Data Hosting: Data is hosted on an SSD-based content delivery network (CDN), offering significantly improved download speeds, especially for customers in Asia and the South Pacific.
  • No Initial Fee: Unlike the legacy model, there is no initial fee, making it more flexible for short-term users.

Service Availability

  • Continuous Access: Users will have access to the software and its features as long as the subscription is active. Once the subscription expires, data downloads and tick data controls in MT4 will no longer be available.
